We live in a world that does not promote truth. In fact most people do not believe in Absolute Truth. The same for all people, at all times, and all situations. They have situation ethics. Right and wrong are based on the situation or whatever suits Me best at this particular moment. It’s all about putting Me first above everybody else. What a terrible way to live. This is the product of the liberal dark world we live in. Most people who live by situation ethics have very low moral values, because there is no right or wrong for them.
The problem for them, is that God does believe in right and wrong. Everything is black and white when it comes to values and life. As far as He is concerned there is no gray. Gray is situation ethics, a lie from hell. Gray sounds good, like so many evil agendas with nice fluffy names;(planned parenthood, etc.) It’s OK as long as it doesn’t hurt someone else. Wrong!!! God and only God decides what truth is. He decides what is right and wrong. His word says things are black and white. There is a very clear distinction between right and wrong. The world we live in does not want it that way; society wants everything blended together so the truth, and right and wrong fade away. Then you can be indoctrinated into thinking and believing a wrong and distorted set of values, which we are constantly bombarded with my music, movies, TV shows in video games and social media. Society is being transformed before our eyes, and unless you have your mind trained and renewed by the word of God you will have no foundation to test things by. You will not even know what’s happening.
Much of this liberal, worldly doctrine has even filtered throughout the church. 2 Timothy 2:15 states “be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, handling accurately the word of truth.” This is not a suggestion, we are required by God’s word to study the scriptures ourselves so that we know and understand the truth that God’s word teaches. If we do not read the Bible and study the word consistently how will we know whether what we are being taught from the pulpit or anywhere else is accurate? We must read the word carefully, thoughtfully, and ask the Holy Spirit to open our eyes and to illuminate our understanding so that we can walk in the light and make right choices, and be pleasing to God. Otherwise, we will surely stand before the Lord one day and our shame will be unbearable.
God’s word tells us what the truth is, and what is right and wrong. Believe it or don’t the choice is yours. Choose wisely. The Lord gave us the freedom of choice as free moral agents. However, so many people misuse that freedom and they choose poorly. These choices we make have consequences, eternal consequences. Choose to seek out the truth and live it tenaciously. Read your Bible tenaciously.
Absolute truth- the same for all people, at all times, and all situations. The Bible is the foundation and source of all truth.
John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God.
John 8:32 you shall know the truth and the truth will set you free.
