FEAR ….. good or bad

Most people have some understanding of fear. We have all experienced being afraid of some thing or some situation. In general fear has a very negative emotion connected to it.

However the Bible says that the fear of the lord is a very good thing. This is not a negative fear but a positive, reverential, and respectful fear. It is more like humbling yourself and giving extreme honor to the Lord because he is worthy of honor and glory and praise.

Being the King of the Universe the Lord is worthy of such praise and honor. So we are to walk in the “fear of the lord ” which brings many blessings. The fear of the lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the holy one is understanding. For by me your days will be multiplied and years of life will be added to you.(Prov. 9:10,11)  The fear of the lord prolongs life. But the years of the wicked will be shortened. (Proverbs 10:27) The fear of the lord is a fountain of life, that one may avoid the snares of death (Proverbs 14:27)

There were over 500 references in the Bible to the “fear of the lord”. It is obviously very important to walk and live in the reverential fear of God. This application of the word fear we would consider to be good and beneficial because of the context of giving honor to God and the innumerable blessings that come to the individual who walks in the fear of the lord.

However, Satan uses fear as one of his chief weapons against all those who believe in God and follow him. A completely different kind of fear. For this  reason the Bible commands us not to be fearful, but to trust in the Lord and his promise of protection and guidance over us.

Proverbs 3:25 says , do not be afraid of sudden fear nor of the onslaught of the wicked when it comes, for the Lord will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being caught. The word of God commands us, do not fear!

Joshua 1:9 says, Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not fear or be dismayed for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.

So here is the main point; We as Christians have power and control over the spirit of fear. 2 Timothy 1:7 says ,God has not given us a spirit of fear but of power, love and a sound mind. We must recognize fear when it comes. We must not allow it to remain and dwell with us.

In the name of Jesus I take authority over the spirit of fear. I bind it from having any effect on me and I commanded it to leave now. We speak that command out loud with power and authority and fear will leave. We must train ourselves to be sensitive and aware of the attacks of the enemy. The power of our words are released when spoken out loud, with authority.

Fear opens the door for doubt and unbelief to enter in. We must not allow that to happen. We must not give them any place in our minds or hearts. When the three of them get together, fear doubt and unbelief they want to have a party.

And I can tell you that when the three of them get together and have a party in your mind you end up with a real mess to clean up. They will undermine your faith, your confidence and your peace. It is best to stop fear in its tracks.

Learn to recognize fear coming at a distance. Put your hand up if necessary and declare STOP! Don’t you come any closer to me, I rebuke the spirit of fear in the name of Jesus. I am the redeemed of the Lord, I am covered in the blood of Christ, I am in covenant with the living God. Depart! If you come any closer to me I will kick the living c…p out of you!!!

He wages war against us in our mind. Satan has demons whisper in our ear thoughts that create fear, doubt and unbelief. We must recognize that and immediately take authority over it and command it  to go. The battle is in the mind!

God’s word says, that we are to renew our mind by the washing of water with the word ,and we are to bring every thought captive to the obedience of Christ, (who is God’s word in the flesh) and cast down every vain imagination that exalts itself against the knowledge of God.( 2Cor.10:5 )

We must renew our minds by the study of God’s word, so that when lies and deceptions come against us in the form of thoughts or otherwise, we have the sensitivity to recognize that these thoughts are not consistent with what God’s word says, and that they

are lies. We reject them and intentionally remind ourselves of what God’s word says about the situation. 2 Timothy 2:15 says, Study to show yourself approved unto God, a workmen who need not be ashamed rightly dividing the word of truth. That verse is

well worthy of meditating on. In essence, it is imperative that we put a fine filter on the thoughts that we allow into our mind and especially on thoughts that we are allowed to remain there. That filter is made powerful and effective through our knowledge and understanding of the Word of God. Without a working understanding of what God’s word says about any given situation and the witness of the Holy Spirit we do not have the ability to protect ourselves or to wage war against the attacks of the enemy.

Many of the problems in the lives ofChristians  and in the body of Christ in general are the result of Christians who do not read their Bible much less study it and understand it. Too many of us are too lazy to pick up the Bible and read it diligently, daily.

We go to church once a week and have somebody preach a message and feel good about ourselves and go home and think we know something. Consequently we are an easy target for the enemy to bring lies and deceptions into our lives and we don’t even

know we are deceived. We don’t even know that what we believe is not consistent with what God’s word says. This is exactly why there is so much false doctrine taught and believed throughout the body of Christ. We live in a world and a spiritual atmosphere that is constantly at war with us and the purpose and plan of God. We have the power and ability available to us to destroy the darkness and the attacks of the enemy so we can walk in victory. But we must being knowledgeable of God’s word and how to use it in order to do so. The Lord said my people perish for lack of knowledge. Let us not be part of that group.

If we will just get in the habit of reading some of God’s word every day things will change.

If we will ask the Holy Spirit to open our eyes and give us revelation of God’s word before we read we will receive more than you can imagine.

If we will pray God’s word and speak God’s word out loud it will change your life and your walk with the Lord.

If you will learn to declare the word of God and decree the word of God over your life and your family and the world, the whole world will undergo transformation. Read the definition of the words, declare, and decree. They are very powerful when used in conjunction with God’s word.

Isaiah 55:11 says, so shall my word be  which goes forth from my mouth, it shall not return to me empty, without accomplishing what I desire, and without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it.

The book of Genesis says God created us in his likeness in his image. And all throughout the Bible we are commanded to study and speak the word of God. God has created his word and us as believers in such a way that His word has the same power spoken out

of our mouths as when he speaks it. This is because his creative power is in his word regardless of who speaks it.

God has given us  the power and the authority through Jesus to destroy fear, doubt and unbelief. We must use the power that God has given us in speaking and declaring His word. Ask the Holy Spirit to open your eyes to have revelation understanding of these

things or any other area in your life and He will do so.

Jesus has given you the power and the authority to walk in victory. But it does require us to do our part by studying the word of God, persisting in faith, trusting Him always, and being thankful.

Consider this, Jesus said all power and authority in heaven and on earth have been given unto me. Then He delegated all of His power and authority to us as believers. If Jesus has ALL power and ALL authority, then somebody [the devil] has none. Get it? If Jesus has it

all then somebody has none. So satan has no power or authority. That means he has no power and no authority over you or me. Listen very carefully, the only power or authority satan has over us is WHAT WE GIVE him. He brings thoughts and suggestions into

our minds, mixed with fear and tries to get us to take hold of them and believe them. He is fishing, do not bite the bait!! When you believe the fear he brings you have given him authority over you. Intentionally slam the door shut. Think about this, he has

no authority except what you give him.

We should always ask the Holy Spirit for His help and understanding. Jesus said the Holy Spirit is our helper and our teacher. The Holy Spirit is delighted when we ask for help and more than willing to do what we ask.

Behold, all things are possible to those who believe.(Mark 9:23)

Prepare with prayer for a better result!

God bless you.
